Moving Forward

While I do not know what's in store for me, I know one thing. I cannot control the past or the future. Yet, I can control how I respond to both.

I believe that our happiness is not based on what happens to us in life, but instead on how we respond to it. I know some of you may think this sounds cliché, but think about it for a moment, if you will.

ALL of our ANXIETY stems from worrying about the future or regretting the past - two things which we have absolutely NO control over. These are UNPRODUCTIVE emotional states. We are wasting our energy on that with which we have no control. Doesn't make any sense at all, does it?

What we need to do is channel our energy into what we call a PRODUCTIVE emotional state. This is a state where we can realize our true potential and thrive. It has taken me a long time to figure this out (almost 38 years:) but I am finally getting it and I want to share what I have learned with all of you. I didn't get to this point alone. I had support and it took time and hard work, but I'm finally at a place where I feel I am THRIVING. I am more in touch with myself now than at any other point in my life and it feels amazing.

Thanks to recent advances in science, we now know the brain is much more plastic and adaptable to change than previously thought. Why is this important? Because it means our brains can be RETRAINED.

I have suffered from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder my entire life. I was born with it and it has tormented me as long as I can remember. I do not tell you this for pity, but merely to make a point.

It was not until I tried Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure Response Prevention, that I started to be able to manage my OCD so that it didn't run my life. Many people think of OCD as incessant hand washing and the inability to stop worrying about germs. That is just one way OCD manifests itself. Obsessing about ANYTHING to the point that it interferes with your life is an obsessive ritual that, in my opinion, can only be stopped by retraining your brain. I also believe this MUST be stopped in order to truly live in the moment and experience life to its fullest.

The power to change is yours and yours alone. No one can take this gift from you, but you must treat it as a gift. Never take it for granted. Harness it and take control of this miraculous power you possess. Believe me when I tell you, I am living proof that it is possible to retrain your brain so you can stop negative obsessive patterns of thinking.

I was recently certified in what is called Subconscious Restructuring. While our subconscious drives all of our behavior, very few of us know how to tap into it and engage its power. Subconscious Restructuring allows you the ability to harness the strength of your subconscious through cognitive exercises done with a certified coach. I will combine elements of Subconscious Restructuring, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure Response Prevention to help you move forward. I am not certified in CBT or ERP, but will use what I learned via my own personal experience in treatment as a resource.

I am finally at a point where I believe I can offer a treatment program that will help you move forward and embrace your life. I am getting ready to launch a Relationship Recovery Site that I am confident will help you start to live life to its fullest.

As far as I know, we have one life to live, right?
