Feeling hopeless:( Another narc?

So I thought I was good and ready to move on and met someone months back. Fast forward to two months ago and I denied giving this person a job reference for a friend's business thinking I couldn't give a reference for someone I didn't know for very long. I politely said no and lo and behold this person tells me things aren't working out and I should move on! What the hell? I didn't get too attached and was very fast to bolt that situation. I have not heard from or made contact with this guy. Now I see him posting a pic on social media of a vacation destination we went on! I have refrained from reacting but can't help but think is this a narc or just a jerk? What are the chances these types are all I encounter?? Is it just me being paranoid??
