He got back in contact....!

Well it had been 2 weeks that I hadn't been / had any contact with my N, then out of the blue I got an email saying that he was "gutted" that I couldn't be in his life and that I had caused all this. I left it for about 24 hours and, me being me (too nice), replied that I had done nothing wrong and I didn't want to fight with him. Then it started, about 3 days later a barrage of texts saying how much he "hates me and that I am a desperate women", "he wished he had never met me" and that I am a "liar and not genuine and everyone knows it but they are too scared to say it to my face".....is this what they call projection? Is he saying what he really feels about himself? I kind of am looking at this from a logical perspective rather than emotionally and taking it to heart as I really feel that he does feel this about himself!
