can someone be narcissistic even if you have left them because of verbal abuse?

I have been separated from my husband for 18 months, I am still deeply depressed and have a question to ask? I left my husband because of 38 years of verbal abuse and my husbands inability to be empathetic towards my feelings, 9one example) when I was ill I was always expected to cook dinner late at night even though I felt like going to bed? I know this is wrong, but I am struggling with the fact that I know he is hurting and would have me back, he did not leave me for anyone else and is still living alone and lonely, but getting on with things. I am falling apart, why is it so hard to come to terms with the fact that I have to start to build a new life for myself, I feel so so helpless and scared? Is he still a narcissist, even though he is not a womaniser? anyone's wise advice here would be so appreciated? I am really struggling................yogaros
