Stupid mr grey books !!

All of my friends and work colleagues are going on about these stupid books ! Just watched an exchange between 2 friends in Facebook. I haven't read the books and I definitely won't be but my 2 friends were discussing how if he stood in front of you and told you what to do you'd do it because you'd be under his spell and the other friend said oh I just want him to love her she wants to be loved by him and then they went into oh all men should read this book and try and be like him !!

Clearly the story is about a man who's controlling a woman through sex and he doesn't love her and she desperately wants him to love her and women everywhere are falling for me grey and wanting one. Well this got me to thinking this is perfect reading material for a psychopathic predator ! And all these women are basically putting it out there and telling these men what they want ! I'm the hands of a decent man maybe it would be ok but in the hands of a psychopath it's dangerous !! Teaches them even more maniulation skills !!

I can see my ex n buying these books and reading them and then being me grey to lure his future victims !! It's like a manual for psychopaths !!

When I first began having sex with my ex n and got involved with him he was totally focused on pleasing me and it was like sex that you read about in romantic novels making love. Of course it soon became robotic and less loving like they do. But I remember with my gut being off anyway and the feeling of this man is just too good to be true thinking to myself this whole relationship his whole persona and the sex and everything feels like he's read a book and is following the instructions. Everything he said and did felt like hed learned it from a manual on how to be the perfect lover or boyfriend and how to make any woman love you ! So these books are going to be great material for him to read and mimic !!!

It makes me feel sick !! They are also saying oh I'd let him get away with it because he has so much money blah blah !! Stupid stupid comments !! I just want to right on their Facebook comments you fools ! You don't want a mr grey !! He's a dangerous predator and those books are encouraging psychopathy !!

God will I ever be able to feel normal again ! I kind of feel very triggered by all this talk of mr grey :( I can't get away from it !

Having heard all the 'hype' i borrowed the first book from a friend...OMG.. painful and disturbing reading for anyone that has experienced a narc.
Many women are 'idolising' the fictional Mr Grey, and that it the scariest thing... all of us here know exactly whats going on through bitter experience, and there are women reading these books WANTING that sort of relationship?!? If only they knew.
the author is making a fortune out of these books, which, I suppose, as a writer she is entitled, but wow, what message is it putting across? That disordered men can basically do as they please.

two paragraphs from my daughters book and that was enough for me - it was exactly what I experienced with the path - very triggering - if you have been victimized by a sexual predator this is the LAST book you would want to read - shades of grey is BLACK for me and a book I will never read

I had a massive rant on facebook about this very subject....I am sick of women I know swooning over this disordered freak. One of my friends actually said she wanted to be like the female character in the book???!!

However, alot of people have said that if you read the trilogy, that he doesn't win in the end.

But my issue is the glorification of this abuse? It is so so wrong when so many of us have experienced real life relationships and I am 2/3rds of the way through the first book and have this compelling urge to finish it. It is like looking at an operation on TV, you don't like it but you have to look?

I guess if anything, it is amazing to read it with the glasses I am now wearing, as opposed to pre-N?!

daughter said that very same thing, (she is 26) she said wow mom that would be an awesome sexual experience - its very erotic she told me - I mean what could I say - I wanted to say NO NO NO, it isnt - its a deadly addiction and you dont even know what you are saying - but I couldnt say anything - and all my daughters friends are stating how they get sexually turned on reading the book they cant put it down - makes it so easy for these psychopaths to brainwash their victims through sex - its a book about a sexual predator if you ask me - and what is worse they are making a MOVie out of it - great just what I will run to see - ya right

I never knew what this book was about, until last night, because of your thread here, I decided to google it. lol

Wow, sounds nuts. Like what many of us here have LIVED.

I think there is a fine line between fantasy and what one should tolerate. The book (from the sounds of it) seems to imply that women are dying to be controlled. I think in fantasy, there are some fun things couples can do, but this book sounds like the guy controls this woman in ways we were all controlled. He sounds abusive.

I find it incredibly sad, that so many strong women are looking at this book as a source of empowerment. It reminds me of the Sex & the City craze, when that was the big thing. I used to watch that show, and thought...''here are strong, educated, sexy and beautiful women who still think this is the only motivation to live...to get fucked by some dude out in the world.''

As if getting laid by someone is an accomplishment. I remember thinking that Carrie, took way too much shit off 'Big.' His character definitely had NPD. LOL

I think it's ironic that the show tries to suggest that women 'can have it all.' We can be like men dammit! But, why would I want to be like a man? The implications were there, though. That women can be smart, pay their own bills, and pick up strange men and bang them, just like men.

Is that what being an empowered female looks like? I think not.

But, what was funny about that 'message,' is that the show instead showing beautiful, successful women desperate for male attention. Every show, Carrie was bedding down another loser. lol As if that was her strong suit, and without that, she felt like a big nothing.

It's sad, that so many women once upon a time, fought for our right to vote ladies, and so on....and those women are rolling over in their graves as I type this, because Fifty Shade of Grey and Sex & The City are NOT what they fought for.

Sitting here with my friend and discussing this mr grey subject and she's showing me the online dating thing she's joined and she's go into see who's viewed her and oh there he is calling himself mr grey ! And writing about how wonderful he is and that a rare opportunity to bag someone like him has come up and he will be interviewing several candidates for the job ! Idiot !! I told her she needs to get off that site ! She's worth more than that!

That's what I'm picking up from what everyone is saying. They are glamorising the psychopath. Only the trouble is only us victims who are no longer guilable and have lost our innocence can see it !!!

I think basically the story is he is rich and powerful and has this woman besotted with him and is dominating sexually and fulfills get every fantasy and whim but he apparently doesn't love her and she's despetate to be loved by this "perfect" man.

Very very sick indeed. My stomach turns and I want to scream out everytime I here his name !!

To be honest, it just makes me feel seriously sick, especially at some rather naive women out there.

This would sound crazy but it does sound a little like social conditioning or attempts of.... media is a powerful thing.

Frightening, but of course if we were to bring this up with friends/colleagues that actually being in a relationship like this isn't so exciting and glamourous, they perhaps will think what wet blankets we are and taking it far too seriously...until they end up here.

I saw on Amazon reviews, especially by someone called Lazycatfish that there is quite some kickback to it thank God from some sane people.

Thanks for the post Indenial, hadn't heard of it before. Very disturbing.

I just hate the way everyone is fawning over this stupid character who is clearly going to ruin this woman !! That's why we all ended up here because we fell for that illusion !! I agree. It's a load of rubbish and to all those people who seem to love the idea of mr grey........ Trying bloody living it!!!! It's not erotic, it's not amazing, it's not a relationship with a perfect man , it's hell with a freak and and if one more person announces that they want that sort of sex life and relationship then I might explode with anger.
