Ok, ladies, who is watching the Bachelorette this season? As you know I find reality television apalling at times. However, ABC's "The Bachelorette" always seems to suck me in since it's about dating and relationships. I love observing human behavior, especially when it comes to romantic relationships. While I don't know if any of it is real, I do like to analyze it all.
Jillian has a great personality and seems very intelligent. Unfortunately, as has happened to many of us, she is being duped by a con-artist. Wes is a raging narcissist. He is as fake as they get. Both Tanner and Jake tried to tell her, but she does not want to believe it. Why does she refuse to believe it? Because he is charming as hell and brilliant at manipulating her.
After Jillian let Jake out of the hotel room and sat back on the couch with Wes, did you hear what he said? First thing he said before she could say anything was:
"Well, I don't want you to come to my parents house if you're going to be uncomfortable or upset now. You know, that is if they're still up. They're getting old."
Did you see any old parents at Wes's house? Ummm, no. What I saw were five swooning women who did nothing but stroke his ego and talk about how great he is and how everyone is jealous of him. I'm not surprised this guy is a narcissist growing up in that kind of environment.
Did you also notice before Jillian arrived to meet his band, he said when talking to the audience:
"My number one priority is my music, nothing else comes before it. This is my church. No one, no relationship, no drug, nothing can compare to the feeling of being on stage."
Hello, Mr. Narcissist! He compares the feeling of being on stage to that of a drug. Being on stage = Primary Narcissistic Supply = Attention = Drug of choice for the Narcissist.
I feel for Jillian because it's obvious she is falling hard for him, but he is using her to promote his music and has a girlfriend. Even when confronted face-to-face with reality, he denies it without blinking an eye. He's a total con-artist and I hope Jillian sees through it before she makes her final decision.

Thu, 07/09/2009 - 07:29 — quietudeGood show ladies! I am so glad you brought up the family fawning all over this guy. I'm glad it wasn't just me thinking, oh my gawwwwd, are they for real??
Wes is so creepy, he is totally 'Blank' emotionally. He looks drugged or something...lol.
Very entertaining show, and informative as usual. Thanks Lisa and Barbara!
I'm watching too
Tue, 06/30/2009 - 09:09 — GhostBusterI'm not big of reality TV either but do get sucked in by the bahcelor/bachelorette franchise. I was thinking the very same thing about Wes. Total narcissist. The good thing is if she did pick this con artist for the final rose, she's now had a couple months to watch the drama play out on TV and she'll (hopefully) see for herself all of his comments that reveal his ill intentions toward her.
I was so hoping she'd kick Wes to the curb and give Jake another chance since Jake's the good guy who tried to warn her. But she let that other guy back in instead. (Jake's tears last night were so telling!) I think she's afraid of how "perfect" Jake is (looks, manners, etc.). She wants an idiot like Wes...which is unfortunate.
Well...it's my opinion that
Sat, 07/04/2009 - 10:16 — better offWell...it's my opinion that anyone, man or woman, who would go on this show, is a narcissist.
